Ay up!

Just taken a pair of older Hornby TD 28xx 's as payment for a job. Both of them have an "X" on the cabside over the 'plate. On an LMS 8F, this means balanced for faster running. Does it mean the same on a 28xx?

According to Wikepedia on the subject of GWR Weight and Power classification "during World War II, it was decided that some classes of two-cylinder engines (including the 1000 (County), 4900 (Hall) and 6800 (Grange) classes) would be permitted to haul loads heavier than those specified in the working books for their power classification. These engines were distinguished by a white letter "X" painted above the number plate"

Ay up!

It certainly was last year!

I'm up before the Moderators this weekend for using "foul and abusive language."

Mind you, heavy freight angines! What's not to like?

Gresley Was Right was his utterance, but i agree with him on heavy freight locos. I even commited heresy last night watching Sir John B on about Swindon some great shots of the works and locos.
Much prefer a B13 or Q6 though.

Ay up!

52D's got it in one.

I was rapped over the knuckles but given a reprimand with no further action.

I shall retreat from this.
