Ok, I saw this on another forum and thought that it could be kinda fun. All you have to do is guess the station from the picture provided. If you guess it then it's your turn to post a picture. The picture can be from anytime although stations that have been demolished are probable best left out of it. So without much ado heres my attempt then lets see how quickly its guessed.

Grosmont, on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (before the platform where the DMU is standing became an island platform).

I'm assuming that ex-LNER locations are preferred. So where's this, then?

Both are the same location. The station is still open, though its appearance has changed somewhat. For an added bonus, which famous British actor is associated with this station, and why?

Manors station, Newcastle?
(Michael Caine - "Get Carter" was filmed there IIRC)...

Full marks.

There's a still from "Get Carter" at the excellent http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/, which has lots of pictures of Manors - and hundreds of other stations too.

MD644, would you mind if I posted another set of pictures?

Where's this location? It's an ex-LNER station which had an engine shed (which you can see in the third picture) and whose booking office was located in the building whose roof was also the water tank. Let's hope there were no leaks.

No problem......

I'd guess somewhere in the North Pennines on this one (judging by the background scenery), maybe the Barnard Castle-Tebay line somewhere?

It's North of Doncaster, certainly, but isn't on the Barnard Castle - Tebay route. As a clue, there is a link between this station and the Tay Bridge disaster.

Is it by any chance St Fort railway station? The last station stop before the bridge.

No, although it is an ex-NBR station.

Correct! :D I took the pictures in the mid-1970s. For the benefit of Southern softies, Reedsmouth (or was it Redesmouth? I can never remember) was the junction near Bellingham in Northumberland where the Border Counties line from Hexham and the Wansbeck Valley line from Morpeth met. Both lines were operated by the North British Railway.

Anyone care to speculate on what the link between Reedsmouth Junction and the Tay Bridge disaster is (it's quite a specific thing, not "they were both managed by the NBR")?

Sorry about my typo, Redesmouth is correct after the River Rede which enters the North Tyne here, although I have seen lots of books spelling it incorrectly. Is there a connection with the loco, 224, being moved there for a while?

I thought it was the signal box, as seen here http://www.railscot.co.uk/Border_Counti ... /frame.htm

Also the station was most commonly known as Reedsmouth, but I cannot find a station sign etc to prove what it was officially known as.
