A driver pointed out a bit of rusty metal beside the track, just past Cuffley one day, and then told me that it was part of the ash pan of a WD 2-8-0, that had fallen off of his loco years before.

No Micky, it's not that people don't care - it's just we cannot use 245T any more. You need shed loads of possessions/isolations to keep on top of the weeds these days - the current weedkiller isn't "one application and forget it" like it was with our old "Agent Orange" derivative and just how many times a year can you justify sending in the blokes to sort out sidings when the stuff grows back again almost instantly?

What really upsets me is all that stuff growing in masonary and on the tops of buildings. That's a big bill for the future if it isn't dealt with now.

When was it last loaded there? I'm almost sure it's not any time i can remember. It did kill the weeds though, oh yes and the rabbits, badgers and the staff who applied it.
