It looks like good news for the Esk Valley line.
Once upon a time, it would have heralded imminent closure, not that I am a cynic!

Re: Esk Valley bridges
Ay up!
Reckon it is. With a bit of luck, that could be the line's future secured for a few years to come.
Having said that, the bean counters could find that its an excuse to close. Cynical? Moi???

Re: Esk Valley bridges
I wonder if any of this is forward thinking regarding the extraction of minerals as discussed previously?
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
Re: Esk Valley bridges
They just waited until we replaced Br 30 between Grosmont and Goathland to see how we did it.
Very similar design bridges.

Re: Esk Valley bridges
the bridge shown in the picture looks very similar to the old bridge 30 on the nymr with the large deep beam under the middle of the bridge, are the new double or single track?
you just beat me to that about the bridge it appears they have an average time of 56hrs to replace each one

Re: Esk Valley bridges
It would be interesting to know the load bearing specs of the new bridges. Are they sufficient for a Class 142/144 or for a heavily loaded train of Potash?
Re: Esk Valley bridges
Not bothered about the Potash just as long as they can cope with the heaviest main line steam loco likely to visit the NYMR.
However I would think they would be designed for at least 30 tonne axleload.
