Replica non-steam locomotive?

Something I've been wondering the past few days - does anyone have any thoughts regarding the possibility of making a replica non-steam locomotive? Whilst not as glamorous or interesting to the public, it may fill a few gaps in preservation and may be easier to make - they do not necessarily have to work or use the original engines/motors. There is already a plan to reproduce the LMS 10000 type Diesel - http://www.lms10000.org/

A few more off the top of my head;

Lancashire and Yorkshire No 1 2-4-2 Electric locomotive

North Eastern Railway EF1 BO-BO Electric (especially as Shildon is now the location of the NRM outstation)

North Eastern Railway petrol inspection car http://www.lner.info/locos/IC/inspection.shtml

Great Central Railway petrol electric autocar http://www.lner.info/locos/IC/gcr_petrolelectric.shtml

Also early underground trains and locomotives etc.

The Chasewater also plan to replicate the body and chassis of the L&Y Motor Rail 0-4-0 after it was stolen for scrap leaving just the wheels and builders plate

G'day Gents

Not to worried about replica Diesel and Electric traction, but the casting of Bogies, could be a bit of a headache !! and would a brand new diesel engine be built or would it be an old motor out of a Ex BR loco be used ??
