Re: The Network Rail 'Oscars' awards?
Yeah, right, at the taxpayers/farepayers expense. Don't get me going young Michael. While I'm thinking about it, I was amazed that NR didn't have a staff suggestion scheme and did in fact suggest it to the then chairman some years ago. He was genuinely receptive to the idea. Has it happened yet?
A topper is proper if the train's a non-stopper!

Re: The Network Rail 'Oscars' awards?
They should have a new show "Britains Got Trackwork" or "The Diamond Crossing Factor"?

From what I see of all the scathing comments on here about NR, I'm thinking they maybe should have something along the lines of a 'Razzies' show rather than an 'Oscars'.

Re: The Network Rail 'Oscars' awards?
These were once the Intercity Oscars. And as it happens where i worked won one. It was around 94/95 and was held in the grounds of York Staion Hotel. We shared a table with Sir Bob Ried (the second one) who bought us all around after we won and were presented our award by Chris Green. We got £1000 to share as well. The entertainment was Kenn Dodd who although not my cup of tea was good. When they say they have to drag him off stage to stop him is true. He would have gone on all night given the chance. A good speach by Chris Green basicly saying the government should leave the railway alone and not privatise, that went done well with the audiance.
