on this day in 1923 the Flying Scotsman loco started hauling services between Kings Cross and Edinburgh

That would have been a momentous occasion, along with the first run by Silver Link!

I bet others could suggest a few other dates LNER fans should dial into their "tardis"............ :)

I'm not really a train/loco person, not good at researching, and can't go trawling the Encyclopedia forums' posts at pres. but I think this has been mentioned sometime.

Trains on the Down Fast (the 'Single') and Down Slow (A4), are at Stevenage station ; but when?
The year 1937 popped into mind when I read this query - some sort of railway celebratory event? - but I've no idea if any of this is accurate.

30 June 1938, 50th Anniversary of 'Flying Scotsman' service, according to this:

Quite Possibly the 50's or early 60's. It is Stirling Single No.1 and Sir Nigel Gresley. You can see both of them in this day and age. No. 1 is at NRM and Sir Nigel Gresley is located on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
