Great Day Out

Post by 50C »

The Mid Hants is only a stones throw from where I live so I popped over there on Friday as it was their three day Autumn Gala. There were 8 locos in steam including 70000,60163,4492 and N2 1744.The weather was glorious blue sky all day and it was extremely well attended with a very frequent timetable and no delays.
There were several double headers including 70000 with 60163.Over the weekend 60163 and 4492 would be running together. It was the first time I had seen 70000 in the flesh since BR days-the very first time being at the 1953 Doncaster plant '100 years' open day.

The only disappointment of the day was that 70000 was in unlined black and devoid of nameplates-didn't look quite right but great to see her in traffic.Someone mentioned there was to be an official naming of the loco in the near future. Can anyone please enlighten me on this.

Thanks
