No!?!?

Not the name of a locomotive, just things that happened to me today.

My house is high on a hill overlooking the main trunk line of the north island of New Zealand, we have quite good views and it's a very pretty setting.

I was feeding the chickens outside at 5. 20pm this evening when I heard the distinctive sound of a steam engine coming through. I raced across the paddock so see her and found that she was pulling five coaches and had on two tenders. I have since found out she was a fourteen day excursion train that had been down to the south island for the centenary celebrations of the building of Dunedin railway station. Great!!

Ten minutes later I heard aircraft engines and four Tiger Moth aircraft hove into view flying in formation, they flew over our house, wer'e on the flight path, as they headed for the airfield just a minute away. It's the annual Tiger Moth weekend here. Boy do I feel lucky today :D

I also believe the Vintage Car club are staging a rally here this weekend, hence all this nostalgia laid on especially for me

From what I remember, a lot of Moths survive "down under"?
I think I read somewhere about 70+ attending a meet in that big country nearby...

Last week found a Tiger Moth in the Dallas area. In a museum but there was also a Spitfire VIII (ex-Indian Air Force) nearby! Neither looked like they'd flown for a while but cosmetically very good condition. Also a replica Camel Dr1 and DVIII :-)
(they did fly some of their stock - the T6 ["Harvard" in English English] was being readied for a weekend of joy rides)
