rebuilt royal scot

Post by WOOTANG »

i have recently finished refurbishing a rebuilt royal scot and i have now finished weathering the locomotive, it has the early crest, in 1949 the locomotive whistle and i know the original whistle was a fowler but when the locomotive was first rebuilt would the whistle have been changed from a fowler whistle to a stanier whistle.

Ay up!

The whistle was changed when the angled-top deflectors and Stanier tenders were fitted in most cases. With flat deflectors, a Fowler whistle is correct, photos needed pre-War, post-War all had Stanier whistles for sure. There is a possibility that a few may have kept the originals for a time, hence the need for photos.
If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!
