BRDatabase new release

Post by Chamossaire »

I have released a new version of BRDatabase (http://www.brdatabase.info). It contains a whole host of extra data and, no doubt, a few new bugs.

The allocation data still has a long way to go and there are errors that exist due to erroneous source information, but you can do snapshots of locomotive classes, fleet surveys, class information, allocation history of nearly 30000 locomotives (steam, diesel and electric) - all this for free!!!

Please let me know any bugs you find but please remember that the data is yet to be completed.

Thanks for reading this!

Ay up!

I've had a quick play and, provided the data is there, all seems OK.

Chamoissaire, I take my hat off to you. This is a massive undertaking and all for free. Top bloke!

Wow, Chamoissaire! This is the site I have been dreaming about finding on the internet for many years.

Thanks for the link.

You must have put years of work into this, and I congratulate you for that.

I've updated the database taking note of some of the comments on here and elsewhere. Sorting on fleet lists is improved (i.e. corrected), and I have improved the class information on a number of shunter classes. Also, the summary details have been turned into a datamart rather than determining on the fly (diesels only at the moment), so they are more accurate and better formatted. More 1947 depot directions available too!

Also added better handling of subclasses - check out the class 33's (http://www.brdatabase.info/locoqry.php? ... pe=D&id=30) for instance - class page.

I have added tables to handle the components of a diesel loco and this is a feature that will expand - check out the summary for D1008.

I've corrected the date-to-service records for about 100 standard steam locomotives - rather than the month they appeared, I have put in the actual date or week ending date.

Also, I've added directional buttons at the bottom of the loco page so that you can scroll forwards or backwards through the class - needs improving and isn't yet on electrics.

Last, but not least, added information on Baby Deltic liveries!

http://www.brdatabase.info

Changes made:

1. Expanded 'workings' section - gives snapshots of depots, works and even scrapyards based on open days and visits. Access via:
2. Added 'Day To Day' for Steam/Diesel and Electric - gives details of sightings/workings/events of class - see via Class page e.g. http://www.brdatabase.info/locoqry.php? ... &page=main

3. Plenty more photographs to illustrate various classes

4. I have added a menu link for Multiple Units - this isn't operational but shows my intentions.

5. Corrected the Stats pages for locomotive classes - there were a few bugs and test situations on those!

6. Added a report to summarise the lives of all Western Region diesel-hydraulics: http://www.brdatabase.info/reports.php?rpopt=10

7. For Pre-Grouping classes, can now select by Preg-Grouping company - e.g. Classes->Steam->LNER->Great Central (http://www.brdatabase.info/classes.php? ... ER&prg=GCR)

8. Numerous bugs and sorting faults corrected.

9. Corrected some problems on the forum: http://www.brdatabase.info/forum/index.php

Please let me know of any more bugs you find, or features you would like to see.

Hi

Brilliant!! How can one person do this in a normal lifetime?

Thank very much for all of the hard work this must have entailed - it's already in 'favorites'

Thanks again

Ay up!

Speak for yerself - I like Black 5s and Crabs. An L & Y area shedmasters dream would be a shed full of those two classes.

And what a marvellous research tool it is turning out to be, so thanks once again.

I have used it to discover that D3327 (previous 13327, later 08257) spent its entire 28 year and 10 month life allocated to March.

Although, in 1985 it seems to have been towed to Norwich before withdrawal from there - but probably u/s by then. I wonder how many other locos with a lengthy life had only one depot allocation?

Jamie
K4 class info is a bit light but individual loco history is fairly comprehensive:

http://www.brdatabase.info/locoqry.php? ... loco=61997

A4's are imminent ...

Hi,

spent ages adding Gresley A1/A3 information:

A1: http://brdatabase.info/locoqry.php?acti ... &id=600112
A1/1: http://brdatabase.info/locoqry.php?acti ... &id=600111
A3: http://brdatabase.info/locoqry.php?acti ... &page=main

Have a look at one loco to see the kind of info available:
http://brdatabase.info/locoqry.php?acti ... loco=60053

Please let me know if you see anything amiss.

Thanks
