:( more sentimental worthless info ... on 29 April 1900 railroad engineer Casey Jones crashed the "Cannonball Express" in to the rear of a slow frieght near Canton Missisippi in the race to recover lost time , rescuce teams then took him to the comfort of his home in Jackson Tennerssee where he died on April 30th , the following day May 1st , his body was taken to be burried at St Marys Curch in his home town.

Ha - I was there last November, they have built a small complex with a museum around his "original" house, there is a loco there of the same class but not his actual loco.
They have a fantastic diner there with authentic Southern food and drink, much as you want for 10$, it was full of "Hill Billies" and Southern aged coloured ladies in their finery, an excellent day out.

I was talking to the museum curator and he told me that Mr Jones was not held in any high regard by the railway community as he had "scabbed" during a strike over working hours and wages thats why his fireman was a Negro as the white guys refused to fire for him, I'm only the messenger so if anyone wants to contradict that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Wouldn't doubt that Redtoon - as late as the 1990s one of my best mates would not talk, apart from when necessary for the safe working of the railway, to any driver who had worked during the 1955 strike. It would be nice to think that things have changed a little since
A topper is proper if the train's a non-stopper!

:D thanks guy's thats realy made my day ... I thought I was one of the few interested in US railroading in the UK , I've recently down gauged from HO to N just so I can get more in !!!

Another authentic American railway film is Emporer of the North. I bought a DVD of it from Amazon

Thats quite a good film,little known over here.
Marvin, Borgnine,Carradine. it was on Ch 5 not so long ago.
