Re: casey jones
Ha - I was there last November, they have built a small complex with a museum around his "original" house, there is a loco there of the same class but not his actual loco.
They have a fantastic diner there with authentic Southern food and drink, much as you want for 10$, it was full of "Hill Billies" and Southern aged coloured ladies in their finery, an excellent day out.

Re: casey jones
I was talking to the museum curator and he told me that Mr Jones was not held in any high regard by the railway community as he had "scabbed" during a strike over working hours and wages thats why his fireman was a Negro as the white guys refused to fire for him, I'm only the messenger so if anyone wants to contradict that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Wouldn't doubt that Redtoon - as late as the 1990s one of my best mates would not talk, apart from when necessary for the safe working of the railway, to any driver who had worked during the 1955 strike. It would be nice to think that things have changed a little sinceredtoon1892 wrote:I was talking to the museum curator and he told me that Mr Jones was not held in any high regard by the railway community as he had "scabbed" during a strike over working hours and wages thats why his fireman was a Negro as the white guys refused to fire for him, I'm only the messenger so if anyone wants to contradict that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
A topper is proper if the train's a non-stopper!
