Loco 70013 Oliver Cromwell: photo op

Post by LovingDalston »

I hope this does not seem like a crude plug but I should tell you that I posted a story on photograph opportunities for an impending outing in London & East Anglia of the magnificent “Oliver Cromwell”, Locomotive 70013. Here's the URL: http://lovingdalston.blogspot.com/2011/ ... t-end.html I'll be aiming to take a pic from a Bethnal Green platform, un-picturesque though the station may be.
Some of you may like to see a pic I took of a diesel hauling tourists from Victoria station, London, in January: http://twitpic.com/3q1k1c
Let's get some good pix of the Britannia Pacific 7001 this Saturday, folks.

The diesel loco looks like a Cl.67 to me ; not very 'vintage', I suggest (see caption).

Definitely a class 67,or "skip".Not the most picturesque of locos, and until the new class 70's arrived, possibly the ugliest on the network!!!!Certainly not vintage, and i would be surprised to see any get preserved.
Bring back Ferrybridge station!

G'Day Gents

In 1965 who would have thought ANY diesel would get preserved, now even a class58 has been preserved, and you can't call them 'pretty'

For me it was a lost opportunity... :(

I used my DSLR the other day to upload some shots and the battery was OK - grabbed it yesterday morning and guess what - battery exhausted. I've an old Ricoh 'real film' AF camera with about 6 shots left on it so turned it on - plenty of battery. Took a stroll out of the development, down the lane across the level crossing and along the field margin next to the line to find a good vantage spot - all set.

Here comes OC and train, clocking 50-60mph I reckon, start the sequence of planned panned shots and when I press the shutter release - nothing - battery had died in the space of about 1 minute.

Anyway OC was looking in fine fettle and running well and I hope everyone had a good time up at the NNR, although I think it might have been hissing it down on the coast by then. Heard OC on the return working in the evening - on both occasions was running exactly to time.
