Wonder if the London Midland management are aware they're serving a new route. -
- From last night's (London) Evening Standard's front page headline story : -
"STRIKE VICTORY FOR RAIL UNIONS
Dick Murray and Jonathan Prynn
Commuters face a crippling wave of transport strikes after a landmark legal ruling today.
Appeal Court judges overturned an injunction that halted walkouts on the Docklands Light Railway.
In a second dramatic ruling, they overturned a decision preventing 600 train drivers from staging a strike on London Midland services to and from King's Cross. ...." !!??

All went to the dogs once The Evening Standard became free. Actually, the story about the Appeal Court's decision is very interesting and balances things a bit

Almost on a par with something I found [and can't "re-find" quickly] on t'web. Apparently First Capital Connect provide services from Hertford
East to London!
They do it in camouflage by painting National Express on the sides of their trains I assume

When I started commuting to London, there were two evening papers. the Evening News and the Evening Standard. The former lived up to its name, but the latter consisted of 40 pages of classified ads (ideal for finding a flat to share etc.) and a little bit of news.
A Standard regular puzzled me. When problems for taxis caused by roadworks or restrictions at hotels etc. were reported, they always sought the opinion of the London Taxi Drivers' Association. These opinions were always given by the chairman of the LTDA, one Al (short for Alan, one has to believe) Fresco. I often wondered at which point in communication irony was lost.
When reporting an a shortage of drivers for London Transport, the Standard quoted that people were being recruited from as far afield as Northampton and Southampton. Presumably the reporter thought that that represented the length of the country; I was disappointed that he did not represent the breadth of the country by including Easthampton and Westhampton.

You may have seen references to the upcoming new TSGN franchise over the last year, which I thought was going to stand for 'Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern', to be run by Govia, and in combining Southern trains with FCC, is said will then be the biggest TOC in terms of trains run and passenger journeys.
But there have now also been references to 'Thameslink and Great Northern' being the first stage of the 'Govia Thameslink Railway', and in operational logs, "GTR" is already appearing.
It'll be interesting to see what branding starts appearing on trains, stations, and publicity.

National Express livery wouldn't provide camouflage any more - Hertford East services are now operated by Abellio Greater Anglia.
