This, and the thread on the Railway Heritage Committee go a long way to explaining why I have not lived in the country of my birth for nearly 30 years, and have sworn never to return except for the occasional visit. I know it sounds harsh, but Britain is being dragged down by thoughtless, greedy, stupid politicians who couldn't organize a raffle, and couldn't find their own backside with both hands and a map.

It says its still free in 1st class  . Through the complex fares system, theres been times where I've got trains in 1st all the way home cheaper than 3rd outward (first was Aviemore - Manchester via Glasgow in 3rd and return through Leeds on First TPE (not a bad service) then Aviemore to Kendal via Glasgow, same route return but 1st was cheaper). TBH, I only use the Wi-fi to keep Twitter and Facebook updated as other things can wait till I get home.
