Back to the warmth
Well now. Back in Kuwait, the sunshine and the heat (and the work).
As well as teaching summer school in Cheltenham I managed to get some other things done.
Visited the Severn Valley Railway, the Paignton and Kinswear line, NRM at York (for some research in their archives), and saw the Cathedrals Express run through Swindon. Not a bad 'busman's vacation' at all. Here are a couple of photos:
I also, after a couple of years work, managed to get a copy of 'Railwaywomen: Exploitation, betrayal and triumph in the workplace' by Helena Wojtczak. Published by Hastings Press. ISBN 1-904-109-047.
I can thoroughly recommend this text. A most enjoyable and well researched book.

The world is seldom what we wish it to be, but wishes don't change it.

G'Day Gents
Hi Malcolm, hope you had a good time, can't wait for summer over here, cold and wet, even floods in some places. Lived in Booborowie for almost 4 years now, and just seen our local creek flow for the first time, unlikley in Kuwait in the next few months

Re: Back to the warmth
A whole lotta sun in these parts, not always the heat to go with it, though. When I get back from blighty in two weeks summer will be fading quietly away here and the maples will be struttin' their stuff. But the kicker is, six months of winter and sub-zero temps loom. Time to hitch up the huskies and get the skis on. Woohoo!!Micky wrote:Personally i'm a bad weather/rain & grey skies person to live in a place with near constant sunshine would drive me to drink!. Have a gud day manna and raise a 4xxxx to all ex Kings Cross drivers & secondmen everywhere my old son!
