Sunderland station is still an absolute hole, regardless of how many artists they commission, or how much flooring they put in.
Dark, unwelcoming and uninspiring.

Sunderland had plenty of light during World War II although there appeared to be a litter problem. A view from my Northumbrian site:

A typical smoggy retort, remember Boro station isnt much to look at either, nor was it during the war.

Frend of mine sold that house, he has pictures of it when it was abandodned and then of him restoring it, I remember it after it was used in Spoils of War, it had fake side fitted with fake window. The station was abandoned and full of stuff and tickets, the signal box top had gone, just a brick base, also a plate layers hut down the platform end. what a great place it was back then

Need to look at sellafield :D

Very nice MR B, I've seen your layout of another sight, my mum lives at Coulderton beach which you have also done :D she lives in Tomlin view which you can find pictures of on the net along with all the beach houses along that coast, interestimg site. if you need and pictures taking of that coast feel free to ask me.
I played in that house as a young boy and the station but mostly the beach and the large pool it once had.
My friend has pictures of the house when the railway sold it.

I just took a quick lookie at the BBC article and I see that the old BR logo/graphic is still in use on the station sign. I'm 30 years away from the UK, so who does the logo belong to now? I remember the old joke about that logo and it's depiction that BR didn't know whether it was coming or going.
