I have managed to get a day off from work, so weather and time permitting might get my camera out. Im no David Bailey but would be nice to get a few photos on Friday.

Can anyone suggest the best place to take photographs of this excursion in or around the Darlington area. Plus scheduled timings ?

Having looked at planned excursions online, their is also a trip the following Saturday using either 37,47s up the same line !

Regards.

Regarding the Railtour with the '47's,it comes through Knottingley at 09.28,and then onto Leeds, and the S&C,before heading for the North East. The company running it is Railtourer. The timings are on their site.It sets off from Bridlington about 20 past 6,making it a full day out!!

Goes back to Shildon dep. 13.58 for Stanhope arr. 15.15, then dep. at 15.45 arrives Shildon to pick up 17.03 then onward Kings Cross. Details correct as at 17th Feb. according to my STN colleagues.

Regarding today's tour by Railtourer, with the two 47's,it came through Knottingley bang on time!!Problem was-i had to shoot into the sun!!The going away shot of the 47 at the rear wasn't bad,but nothing to get excited about. The front 47 is the one with Scarborough Spa Express branding down the side-they are both West Coast engines.
