Old coach

Can anyone identify the coach in the picture?

I think that the location may be at Cliffe Common, the southern end of the Derwent Valley Light Railway and it would have been taken around about 1964/5.

It appears to be a 6 wheeler brake. Sorry that the quality is not very good.

It was an ex GC 3 compartment brake third that the DVLR bought from the LNER. There are a number of photos of this coach in use.

I don't suppose that it survived? If not, a pity, it looked like it was an interesting old vehicle with a colourful history.

I know that this is an old thread, but I need to slightly correct the earlier replies. The photograph was taken at Cliff Common on the DVLR, and is an ex GCR brake. It wasn't, however, owned by the DVLR.
It had been owned by the Easingwold Railway, and was their sole passenger coach from the late 1930's until 1947, when that railway ceased to carry passengers. It then continued in use as a goods brake on the line until c.1956. It was then sold to a preservationist who stored it on the DVLR, initiall at Cliff, and latterly at Elvington. From a talk the other day given to our group by the Derwent Valley the coach was stated to be ex Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire railway.

Since it was built in 1898 it's original owners were the Great Central, but hey, what's a few years between friends?
