Were all the westhouse pumps removed from WD 280& 2100's during BR ownership?. I know that a few 9f Loco's had them fitted for the ore trains in the north east etc. This interest comes about with the model WD that I am finishing.
Thanks
Dave.

British railways removed all the Westinghouse Pumps from the WD 2-8-0s and 2-10-0s as they had no need of them, all the fitted freights were vacuum equipped.
Some of the redundant pumps were fitted to ex NER Q7s for operating the doors on the hopper wagons used between Tyne Dock and Consett. Air generated by one pump kept the doors closed, and the other air supply was used to control the opening of same over the bunkers at Consett.
The Q7s were replaced by 9Fs in due course but these had new pumps fitted.
If you are modelling the wartime period then the WDs and some 8Fs did run with the pumps fitted and it took some time after the war for all to be removed. I have models of the 8F so fitted, one LHD and one RHD for Turkey!
I have drawings of the layout of all the piping etc for all the above locos if needed.

Can you help with a copy of a drawing for the pump and other plumbing impedimenta for the 9f. The pump is the most elusive to find a drawing of.

Did you try GIF or PNG, as I suggested in my PM? These tend to be better for line drawings, although this JPEG has come out pretty well.
