Re: Busy Saturday
Was anybody else at Burton Salmon yesterday? What about those idiots abusing us?It's a bit rich calling us sad b******s,then driving on at great speed.Just why do railfans come in for so much stick?A crossword clue in this week's local paper reads"Trainspotters jacket-6 letters". When did anyone last wear an anorak? Our hobby is no different to Fishing,or Golf for example, but do fishermen or golfers get abused?I suppose it shouldn't bother me,but somehow it does.At least there was none of it when the wonderful "SIR NIGEL GRESLEY" came.

Re: Busy Saturday
I was going to go down to Copmanthrope in my 'Fleece', but decided I'd be better off at the station......I was until the bloke next to me couldn't stand still, and decided at the point when Gresley 'reved up' [so to speak] he wanted to be in my shot also!

I too was wearing a fleece, good job too as it was a tad nippy.Worth it though.Aren't A4's great?Got a good shot of the triple-header 66's that came through. If you're still there Yorksteam, how do i get to Earfit crossing from the A64?I fancy a couple of hours there.

Re: Busy Saturday
That be whhere I was going to go Saturday for Gresley, but I went to the station instead, and should have learned from last time! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBMXq-Nnn_A
As for getting there, take the A64 to the A1237 York Ring Road, and at the roundabout take a right round to cross the bridge, and then first left (well left, the next turn is back on to the A64!)
Take the first left, and follow it down in to Copmanthrope, and take a right. Follow this over the railway, and there's a turning on the right after it, and that's Earfit lane.
Hope this helps

Re: Busy Saturday
Slight correction to that, The road continues alongside the railway for a bit, most photograhers etc park along here by the wide way between the UP + Down mains.Take the first left, and follow it down in to Copmanthrope, and take a right. Follow this over the railway, and there's a turning on the right after it, and that's Earfit lane.
But Earfitt crossing is slightly further along the road round the left hand bend then the dirt track on the right takes you to the crossing. Complete with Red / Green lights to warn of approaching traffic.
