The long standing former English Welsh and Scottish (later English Welsh Scottish) is no more.
From January the first 2009 DB Schenker is the new name, and the very first loco to carry the new livery was unveiled in the NRM on friday No. 59206.

You may well be aware, that twice a day every day they turn the turntable, well the reason sighted this weekend, is that it is too long and too heavy!

I was at the NRM today. Damn that thing is ugly. At least EWS had that swanky logo with the animals that represent each of the UK's constituent nations.

Not a modern image fan but i too think EWS was the best of a rather poor bunch of examples of corporate bill posting.
You cant beat apple green for passenger and plain black with red buffers for goods(ducking for cover while indignant replies posted). Even though my true loyalty is to the NER i think the LNER corporate image was spot on and the liveries sported by the Woodhead electrics early on was a good choice unlike the later shades of blue.
Can anyone photoshop some modern traction into a quasi LNER livery i would like to see that.

Cheers 52D

Nice bright livery-wonder how long the mgr ones will look like that!Whatever happened to "British Railways"?Better photograph as many EWS engines as possible now.Thinking about the livery,it would look good on a 37?

 Shanker,is that not the 'old' terminology for a rather nasty ,raw, sore somewhere in the nether regions after a 'liason'with a woman of ill repute under the arches in York Road, Kings Cross ! STD's is the present name !The colour is right! UUGHH!!, in fact I think We should now officialy call any class of their loco's from this day forth -STD's. Start a trend! 'Shenkers Traction Diesels!

Yes, we've done Railways twice before on the York Scout & Guide Gang Show, but this year included a steam loco and carrige, the loco was Apple Green, and the Carrige...Teak...I didn't paint them, but Our Painter reseached in the most local museum he could find...would look odd in in Garter Blue!

I am sorry but I quite like it, shame to see the EWS livery go. It took ten yrs for EWS to not paint all their locos so how long, recession included, will it take for STD to repaint all theirs (I really hope that name sticks).

Proper trains?

That's a proper train, and that's our District Commisioner with Mr Pegler!

And as for the loco, it sort of worked

but we couldn't store it, as you will see it wasn't a complete boiler!
