More seriously, "Oliver Cromwell" is being restored - so you'll have a Britannia Class running. The K4 makes a lot of sense from an excursion point of view, even with its tiny wheels. "Blue Peter" I think is waiting for money?

Three A4s on steam together is going to be a marvellous sight when they're ready.

The Peppercorn A1 of course.

And some of the smaller engines - the two Y7s, the Y1, J72, etc.

I'm personally rooting for the J69 at the NRM, would be a great loco for Shuttles, goods trains and such at Galas.

Yes I'd forgotten the J69. Tucked away in the corner, it was a pleasant surprise to find it at the NRM in August!

A solid design - they were noted for their reliability with intensive running and relatively low levels of maintenance.

Heres my quick 5-55002-KOYLI, BLUE PETER, EVENING STAR, BABY DELTIC(from scratch-why not?),and-MIDLAND PULLMAN.hOW ABOUT THAT? Also-i think it's a joke that MALLARD doesn't run.I believe there is an a4 in america not been exhibited.Ithink it is DWIGHT D EISENHOWER. Pity someone(Mr Branson?)can't bring it back and run it.I'm sure the name&number could be changed to another A4.Maybe if there was another running "UNION" wouldn't get hammered so much.

There are two A4s in North America and both are can be seen in museums.
Dominion of Canada is in Canada, and Dwight Eisenhower is at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay. The latter is in cosmetically great condition with what I believe to be a WW2 command coach (I've only seen photos). The choice of coach has more to do with the loco's name. The shade of green is off and the motion has been painted silver. Dominion of Canada is a "better" colour and recently had a big cleanup.

There are six A4s surviving - more than any other LNER type. Three are steamable. Even though that will soon be two, that is still more than virtually every other LNER type. (two B1s survive, two Y7s survive, and two J94s are genuine ex-LNER).

Whilst an A4 is in mainline condition, I think priorities should be elsewhere.

Yes,fair comment.Glad that both those A4's are on show.The article in Railways Illustrated about progress on new/re-builds is very interesting.How many of these finally see the light of day remains to be seen,but won't the world be better for them?
