With only one more mile to go before arriving at Kings Cross A3 No.60050 Persimmon descends Holloway bank through a snow covered landscape on December 29th 1962 with a short train with only six vehicles on behind the tender. The photograph was taken from the old cattle dock with Holloway South Up signal box immediately behind the photographer.

Yeah it is a good photograph giner isn't it. Yes the loco looks like it could have seen a oily rag or two giving it a clean up!.

A3 No.60050 Persimmon is working the 07:45 Peterborough to Kings Cross on a semi-fast passenger train on 29th December 1962.

The next three photographs were also probably taken all on the same day which was possibly on December 29th 1962.

Looking across the running lines to Holloway South Down from the cattle dock on the Up side A3 No.60106 Flying Fox is seen heading a train of box vans which I assume originated from Kings Cross goods yard and heads up the bank towards Holloway North Down.

A2 No.60500 Edward Thompson is seen deputising for a failed diesel on the 10:30 Kings Cross to Cambridge and is seen passing Holloway South Down (1900-1976).

Another A2 No.60520 Owen Tudor is seen working the 10:45 Kings Cross to Edinburgh relief train and is seen after emerging from the Caledonian road 'bridge hole' and is blasting it's way up the Holloway bank towards Holloway North Down (box).

Great photos again, Mickey. Curiosity got the better of me so I went digging and found the photos, all captioned and the locos identified - Persimmon, Flying Fox, Edward Thompson, Owen Tudor (who I last saw lying on her side near 20-mile bridge about 60 years ago). There's also a photo of A1 Aberdonian awaiting the off at the Cross.

I like snowy railway landscapes.

Some great photos giner remember that winter very well feel very cold just looking at them, in the early hours of Sunday 30th (I think) December had to take an Austerity from Top shed to Hitchin loco, terrible conditions got back to London okay with the snow getting worse by the end of that day the South East of England was for a time virtually at a standstill, long hours worked that day by many grades just trying to keep things going.

Sorry Mickey got names mixed up. Still good photos.
