A question about GWR loco tenders?. Sometimes seen mounted on there loco tenders next to the cab was a small'ish 'wooden frame' like structure that appeared to be optional because in some photographs or film footage it doesn't appear to be seen so obviously it was moveable anyway I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what it was used for I thought it may have been used to tie a top canvas sheet from the roof of the cab to the tender for extra shelter for the crew but thats only a guess on my part?. The wooden frame structure appeared to be seen (when it was used) on all the GWR loco tender classes.
