First I was wondering if anyone can give me any examples of some railway posters. And also can anyone get a sound byte of an A3 whistle? I've got the sound they use in MSTS but I would love to hear the real thing. As always thanks for your help.

A3 whilstles are in short supply, being only the one surviviing example, and this doesn't have an A3 Whistle as yet, but after it's overhaul, it will!

Thanks very much for these. I like the LNER posters but do you know of any pictures of other railway posters like the LMS or the GWR? Oh and those whistles are great.

See my posting on the LNER loco forum ref; A3 whistles:

In short, they are the LNER group standard whistle, as fitted to everything built post-grouping, except for A4s, O6s and O7s.

Suggest you try to get a recording of 60800, 61264, 62005, 61994 or 60163, 60532 and 62712 when they come "on-line".

Edit: I should have stated, of course, that the bells (and therefore the sound) are common, but the large-boilered locos have an elbow at the base of the whistle so that the mounting does not foul the loading gauge.

There are plenty of short videos of preserved steam on Youtube. For example if you want to compare a Duchess whistle, with an A3 and a Spam can, just type in "Steam at Gomshall" .
