Post by 52D »

The right hand running had me confused :?

I know a certain British Railway with ideas above its station (awful pun I know!) used to run like that, but to real railwaymen it just doesn't look right.

Ay up!

The Ffestiniog traditionally also run right handed through their loops for some reason. I could never figure out why.

The FR has right hand running because it allowed the down gravity trains to take the outside curve through the points at the top end of Tan-Y-Bwlch, thus reducing the likelihood of a derailment.
