G'Day Gents

Sorry BB that went out years ago, you have to arrive as a refugee on a run down boat from Indonesia, to get the best of it now !!! :P

It sounds scary, to travel on the railway in the UK now, Drivers with 3 weeks on the footplate, signalmen, that don't know what a 'Box' is, and a 'Polly' with three years in Parliament, and an with IQ, of two, in charge of both, why wouldn't you fly !!

PS, heard and advert on the radio the other day, wanting people to apply for the job of Train Driver working across the 'Nullabour plain, only 700kms ...dead straight................Oh look trains with no steering wheels

I visited an exGWR box (no names!) four or five years back and the signalman was telling me about an evening when contractors were taking an overnight possession of the first part of the single line branch off the main line. When the person in charge of the possession phoned the box the signalman asked if he had the staff only to be told 'they are all here, signed on and ready to start work!

Ay up!

I know very little about signalling but don't the persons performing the work have to register with the signalman?

Going back to the original post the word is that she was not offered a new contract by DfT. Read into that what you will.

But as far as I can see she has delivered all that DfT as shareholder could have asked for, good income, reasonable performance, certainly a long way up from Nat Ex.
