Scarborough Plaxton's Bus Chassis delivery

Post by Bryan »

Here's a question that came up yesterday.
Sometime during 1972, we think, there were some deliveries of Bus Chassis to Plaxton's Coach Builders of Eastfield Scarborough that went by rail to Scarborough Gallow's Close yard due to a strike by the drivers.
Can anyone confirm this and give dates please?

That would be the time when you used to see the Bus / Coach Chassis being driven up the motorway with the driver in wetsuit and flying goggles sat out in the open. Joys of motoring.

We also believe that during unloading one of them came off the wagon a bit like the Armoured vehicle on the Wensleydale a few years back.
