Tracks of the Iron Horse

Before I forget, I should mention the Bush Library gig! Basically, the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library has a big railroad exhibition going on at the moment. Started on Nov. 7th and closes on July 30th. Our club (The "Tex-Ns") has been invited to exhibit during the last two weekends of May. This includes the Memorial Day Weekend (a long weekend due to the American equivalent of a Bank Holiday). Regardless of your politics, being invited by any Presidential Library is quite an honour for a small model railroad club!

The exhibition site is here:

The clubs layouts are on a revolving schedule. There's lots of other stuff as well, including the Golden Spike from Promontory Point, Utah; loans from Frank Sinatra's Lionel Collection; etc.
During the opening ceremony, a new Union Pacific engine was numbered "4343" in special livery (George HW Bush being the 43rd President).

The Library is on the main Texas A&M Campus at College Station, so if anyone is passing through Texas in the next 6 months, they might be interested in visiting. College Station is an easy day trip from Houston.
