Cambrian Rly. Coach

Post by neilgow »

I am helping to restore an 1890's Cambrian Railway wooden bodied six wheel coach. It was used as a holiday home for around seventy years. On being taken over by the GWR, the coach was withdrawn from service.

Would anyone have any idea where we might find some drawings for such a vehicle. So far we have not been very lucky but given the wealth of knowledge apparent amongst the forum members I thought I'd ask nicely.

Many thanks.

If I was researching this, I'd check the NRM, Welsh Railways Research Circle, Vintage Carriage Trust, the National Library at Aberystwyth and the Great Western Society.

There's also the National Preservation Forum, have you posted on there? The Gwili restored a Taff Vale coach, they might know something. And the Cambrian group at Oswestry?

There's an annual meeting of vintage coach restorers each year, I think in the autumn, not sure where this year's is to be held.

I'll have a look at Embsay's books, see if I can dig up any other leads.
