NYMR incident - Grosmont

Post by 60800 »

All services have currently being suspended due to an incident at Grosmont. Does anyone have any more information on this?

Yes, on RMweb the report is that a male was crushed between two vehicles and has died.

Best to leave it at that and avoid attracting supposition and speculation.

My sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased.

Yes a very sad incident although i will not comment any further on this incident but it just reminds everyone (if anyone needs reminding?) how dangerious a railway environment can be?.

I can still recall a potential near fatal accident involving myself way back in 1979 when i was doing a secondman's job at Stratford loco (or MPD as some like to call it?) when i started to climb down from the cab of a moving class 31 loco and just noticed a LIMITED CLEARENCE sign fixed to a brick shed wall ahead of me and quickly thru myself back into the cab as the brick wall passed by with about 1ft clearence outside the loco!!.

As someone once said a LIMITED CLEARENCE sign means that theres just enough room between the train and the wall and NOT ENOUGH CLEARENCE between the train, the wall and YOU!!.

I would suggest that this topic be locked, at least for the time being. As the one on the (Unofficial) NYMR forum has also been locked at the request of the NYMR.
