Direct service from Lincoln to London

Post by Pyewipe Junction »

I note from the Wikipedia entry for Lincoln Central that Stagecoach Midland Rail intends to reinsate a direct Lincoln to London service in 2008, but that it's not known whether the service will take the ECML via Newark or the Midland main line to St Pancras via Nottingham.

As Newark Northgate to Lincoln isn't electrified, I assume that the service will have to be operated by diesels and that they might not be fast enough for the ECML, hence the proposal to run it into St Pancras.

LMS wins again!

Amply fine are diesels, the other 2 virgins (220 & 221 plus the Midland mainline 222) are all diesel, and run from Aberdeen to Doncaster at least before cutting across to Plymouth, Southampton or Penzance.

The Cambridge to Kings X runs via the ecml from hitchin so i'm sure there must be diesels that can run to similar speeds as it even uses the up and down fasts.

The 365 units have a top speed of 100 which is the same as a class 170. Don't the lecrics accelerate faster?

What motive power is used for the Hull trains?

Is Hull to Doncaster now electrified?
