Aspinalls L&Y 2-4-2 Lanky Tank.
Hi all, i have been reading through my old ASLEF diaries and found a trip i was on from Manchester Vic to Wigan Walgate, all stations with a Sowerby Bridge Lanky Tank, although the engine number is faint,it looks like 50765,after all my diary is 1958. This loco was unusual in that it could pick up water in either direction, bunker first over Walkden Troughs, operation was by vacuum and not handle operated as was the morm. What i would like to know; were these tanks unique, or were their any other locos with this system. I have also posted this on another Forum for feed back. Thanking you. Torquay.

The original A5s, C13s and C14a had a similar arrangement.
