Can anyone tell me where to find pictures of the tablet exchange apparatus used for the P2's at Montrose and Usan also any details of the devices fitted to the locos ?

Can't answer your direct question jay37 but occasionally during the late 1960s & early 1970s the odd Brush type 2 (later class 31s) would make there way up to the London area that had Tablet Exchange apparatus fitted that was located in a recess in the left-hand cab door (driver's side) of the loco.

Thanks Micky
Am aware of the tablet fitted diesels but so far only pic I have is in a Railway Mag of 1953 which seems to show a cast iron like structure to which the tablet was fitted I assume . I also wonder were the tablets the same design i.e . hoop and pouch ?
