STEAM LOCO NAMEPLATES

Post by 50C »

Does anyone know if there is a published list available of BR steam locomotive name plates
which escaped the cutters torch. If there is no list where is the best place to start researching the topic.Any help would be most appreciated.

Went to the Great Central Railwayana auction last Saturday and witnessed the sale of LMS
coronation class name plate QUEEN ELIZABETH for the paltry sum of £51500 !!!!!!!!!!!!! and they say we are in the middle of a recession.

Ian Wright the former owner of Sheffield Railwayana Auctions did a book called "British Steam Nameplates On Display" (or something similar) a few years ago and I would guess if you get in touch with Robert Humm books at Stamford Station he might be able to rustle up a copy.
