Re: turntables
There is one at Swindon, too. However it's disconnected, but, renovated (not sure who owns it).

Fort William?
I just looked on Google Maps and it is still there. Doesn't look to be in great condition - but the running tracks don't look great in the aerial imagery either!

Re: turntables
I think that the one at Old Oak Common is still in use, albeit for preserved use.

Re: turntables
The one at Yeovil Junction is presumably still there? It was used for turning steam locos that worked specials down the SW main line, while engines that had worked down to Weymouth had to run light back to Y. Jct. to turn there before their return workings.

Re: turntables
Does anyone know if you can get anywhere near (without trespassing obviously),the turntable at Scarborough?Thought it might make a different photo if i could get one.The "Spa Express" season starts in a couple of weeks,so locations are utmost in my mind at the mo!
Bring back Ferrybridge station!
Re: turntables
In the 1980s when the SSE's first ran it certainly used to be possible to photograph at the Scarborough turntable from a road or whatever it was that overlooked the site. Mind you I haven't been there in about 20 years so things might have changed.
