Even though I spent a short bit of time in the loco at Stratford during most of 1979 I must say I never felt much at home on the GE being a GN man
When I returned to the signalling grade at the start of 1980 at Victoria Park (Hackney Wick) it was an all right box (a London Midland Region design box dating from the early 1960s) and I stayed at the box as a resident signalman for about twenty months until applying for an 'Inter regional transfer' to the London Midland Region towards the end of 1981.
