I understand that a large amount of money was approved in late 2008 for upgrading the ex-GN/GN&GE Joint line from Peterborough to Doncaster via Lincoln, preparatory to the diversion of freight and (intriguingly) some passenger services to use this line.
Does this proposal envisage electrification of the line? And what extra passenger services would use it?
I assume this means more misery for the road users of Lincoln, where the line crosses the busy High Street.
What a poor decision to remove the Lincoln avoiding line in the 1980s!

Re: Upgrade of Peterborough to Doncaster Line
I will second the proposal to reinstate the Lincoln avoiding line, also a little line from March Northwards through Guyhirn would make good sense.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

Yes more avoiding lines please.Surely that would mean more pathways or would that be too simple?!
Bring back Ferrybridge station!
