Private owners wagon on roundabout

Post by 52D »

Today whilst out and about for work purposes i was in Derbyshire on my way back to Sheffield from Ilkeston when i came to a large roundabout with a planked open wagon on it bearing the name Stanton.
I think the town may have been Heanor I know all about the Stanton company does anyone have details of the wagon, I am going that way tomorrow so i will attempt to get a picture to reproduce on this forum.
I will leave a note on the model forum as well.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

The enclosed picture was taken from my van perhaps someone can do better. I think the roundabout may actually be in Ilkeston all the small towns in that part of the world just blend into each other

I wonder if this may be of some use, I found it on flickr.

It is also possible to see the wagon on Google Earth in the middle of a roundabout in Ilkeston.
