Where was Doctor Who?

Post by kudu »

For the second week in succession there was a rail background to Doctor Who (the only reason I watched, btw, though others in the family are more committed). It was ostensibly located in Bristol, though there was no reason to believe it actually was, unless the GWR tender glimpsed in one shot gives a clue. (There was also a taper boiler on a low loader.) Did anyone else see it, and do they know where it was filmed? Date: 18 October. Title: Flatline.

I can't be too sure from the quick glimpse, but it looked like a prairie chassis, not a tender. There was also one stored car of a class 101 (?) unit as well as a full DMU. I'm thinking Dartmouth or Wensleydale..

Ay up!

The answer is.......

Barry Island! The 2-8-0T chassis and the rest are in the old EWS depot there. Not far from Woodham's Yard!

Tunnel sequences were filmed on the Glocs. & Warks at Winchcombe.

Thanks for the info. Dr Who is based in Cardiff so Barry was just down the road. What about the goods shed and tracks (named "Bristol Sidings" in the episode)?
