Guess the aircraft
Does anyone know what this aircraft is? (I do, but having a lot of fun watching people guess what it is)

Re: Guess the aircraft
I can see that from a fleeting glance some people might think it was a Spitfire, but my money is on the Gloster E28/39 prototype jet. Nice little machine, not the first jet to fly but easily the best of the three pioneers!

Re: Guess the aircraft
Cockpit windscreen does not have the flat / angled panel, so it can't be a WW2 fighter. I'd say it's a modern aircraft done up to look like a Spitfire.

Re: Guess the aircraft
It looks too long for that and the cockpit is wrong for it too.

No one's right so far, but it's not a mock up/replica etc and it was built in ww2

Re: Guess the aircraft
Looking at the way the fuselage drops away behind the cockpit, and seeing what appear to be twin tail fins, (if they relate to the same aircraft), and although I'm thrown by the British style camouflage, I'm tempted to suggest its a WW2 P38 Lightning?

Re: Guess the aircraft
Ay up!
That windscreen is reminiscent of a Photo Recce Spitfire but the fuselage shape's wrong.
Miles Master?

Re: Guess the aircraft
I'm still puzzled at the shape of the front portion of the plexiglass on the cockpit. Hang on, is it a P40?
EDIT: I'd definitely count out any radials. It looks too thin.
