It really is very sad that some people will still throw old photos into the bin without a second thought.

I hate to think how many thousands of priceless historic prints may be lying in landfill sites around the country.

That is a great shame Micky, and as I mentioned above, probably an all too frequent occurrence.

I remember being at Sleaford South Box one day around 1969, (my excuse was that I was doing research for a school project) and was shown a whole pile of b/w photos of 1960s trains through Ancaster and surrounding stations. I was led to believe that the photographer was a railway employee, but cant remember any more details.

One day, I hoped that I might discover some of these photos in a published album, but not so far. There are precious few photos of the Grantham, Lincoln and Boston lines and I hope the ones that I saw still exist somewhere.

nice photos, best tale about the Tower Bridge is from the 1960s when London council put the London bridge on the market when the yank McCullen heard about it he bought it for a few million $$$ , when it was erected in Arizona and he went to see it he was gob smac't , he thought he'd bought Tower Bridge in fact he had bought the old London Bridge

That's an urban myth, sadly. The chap from Arizona knew all along what he was getting - there was no mention of any steelwork in the planning.

whatever BB , just been doing some web surfing and it's turned out to be one of Americas bigest tourist attractions, so money 'well' spent.
