Anyone else remember this little flotilla which toured our canals in olden times (early 1960s?) recruiting matelots or know if the boats still exist, please?

In August 1948 we had A4s that if allowed further North than Berwick would have made fairly good K Boat replicas.

No Micky the K boats believe it or not were steam powered submarines build in the first world war, with funnels. 21 boats were ordered and were not a success. Several sank, one even at the dockside.

G'Day Gents
Naw ! K boats were steam powered submarines, I think, I would have felt safer on the explosive packed E boat after all the bad press the K boats got.

ISTR the Battle of May Island was when K boats were on Manouvers with the fleet and a couple got sunk by accident, I will try to look up a bit more, I like these odd topics.

2 boats sunk, 2 crippled after the heavy ships carved through the K boat flotilla.
Quote from Rear Admiral Earnest W Leir
" The only good thing about the K Boats was that they never engaged the enemy."
