Maglev is an interesting idea, pity that more use has not been made of it in the UK.
Glad to see that the funds raised by the sale will be well used....

If a HS line is self-contained, I think Mag-Lev is an ideal system and could eliminate many of the problems facing the current HS2 project.

The Las Vegas system is pretty good, tried while we were there a few weeks ago.

Is that a true maglev or just a "monorail"? Also, what about volume? The Seattle Monorail (not a maglev) gets a few tourists, but it could never handle commuter levels of traffic (assuming it took a commuter route).

When I went to the NEC in the early 90s I made a point of actually riding on the Maglev.
It might have been quicker to walk but it was interesting.

Its a mono rail.
It is greatly underused, I assume its because of the price, much. much cheaper to get a 3 day bus pass which also gives you better access to the old town and outlying area, they have ticket machines at the bus stops.
The pics are of a monorail station and the monorail taken from our room window, the other is one of the service buses which are battery powered.
That huge building behind the station is a multi story car park for valet parking.
