Mornington Crescent
Anyone fancy a game? (Say standard Turberry 'friendly' rules, no use of the Brighton Handicap or 4D 'Doctor Who Tardis Manipulations'... ?)
I'll start us off with Liverpool Street

Re: Mornington Crescent
hmmm, without looking out the combined profesional rules and 1856 almanac I shall have to play safe and avoid nip by playing "embankment"

Re: Mornington Crescent
???? I'm well lost by all this (I'm a long way from the Northern Line here, although I lived near Woodside Park as a young child). Can we get a brief outline of the rules of this game, please? Sorry to interrupt the flow.

Re: Mornington Crescent
That would be telling!
(although the following might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mornington ... %28game%29 )
As an aside, Jack Dee seems to be standing in quite nicely with a suitable dead pan delivery. Contrasts with the disappointing Stephen Fry who sounded like was reading from a script most of the time (yes I know Humph probably did, but at least he didn't sound like it).

Well, thanks anyway, (I think) Richard. Enjoy your game then, those of you who DO know what it's about.richard wrote:That would be telling!

Re: Mornington Crescent
(Thanks for the explanation Richard. You're quite welcome to join in giner, the four volume set of the abridged Phelps and Knights rules that many players use are reasonably common and the presentational case they come in doubles most usefully as a low stool.)
Cunning move twa_dogs, would that be a "Dougal's Diagonal"? If so, I think I will counter with a Quartering Quadrant and take us to the Elephant and Castle

Re: Mornington Crescent
I thought we were playing to standard Turberry 'friendly' rules? Still if you want to get serious....
I play Northwood Hills
...and don't forget after a Quartering Quadrant diagonals no longer apply.
