I don't want to alarm everyone but there are rumours that Fotopic have gone bust. I can't get onto the site, anyone else any joy/info?

Apparently they have just gone into liquidation - this according to the Companies House Register.
Lets hope someone has made some backups somewhere!

Well I cant log on to any of their their sites so it would appear so, but the contributors will move their collections to another site as they will hold the original negatives hopefully

This just came through from Roger in OZ on the LNER list, it sheds further information on the situation.
There is hope yet
Re Fotopic.
A message from another group may explain the problem and is quoted below:-
"Hi all Just got this from another group
The following was posted on Wikipedia Talk at 1935 this evening...
[Quote] "Update from Joel: "Fotopic.net was taken over by a company
called Snappy Designs Ltd in May 2008 owned by ANY-Web Group, it is
offline today due to a technical fault at Kingston Communications and
I've been told by Snappy that it will be back sometime tonight
(Friday). No statement has been issued by Fotopic.net. Directors have
told me the company is solvent and this isn't related to it at all -
I'd suggest you wait for the site to come back then I'm sure an
official statement will be forthcoming." [End quote]
Joel was one of the founders of Fotopic, so he should know what's
going on...

Found this:
The stuff on companies house is ancient, last I read was @ 1:36am posted by an ex-fotopic employee who said it was a hosting problem - Kingston Comms had dropped fotopic from the route map and it will take a while to get it sorted, could be 48 hours from fixing before it filters through the net.
