With my brownie 127 and duffle bag in hand , I spent as many holidays on platforms at York ....
These photos will have been taken during Easter and Summer B/H . AROUND 1960 AND 1963 .

Nice to see a picture of "un named" 17 a regular performer down the Calder Valley on the Liverpool - Newcastle's until the end of 1961 . The class 40 reminded me of my first trip to York and saw only one " mainline diesel " and that was on the down Talisman . We all thought it would be years and years before diesels took the top jobs , but on that day it was just a novelty !

Yes, 45517, the unnamed "pate" - the others were Mars (45698), Glorious (45719) and Dauntless (45717). The "ten past eighter" through Horbury Bridge was always a chance to see a "namer", even if the engines were always the same.

There were more "namers", mostly B1s, when Healey Mills opened and, of course, when the KX trains were diverted along the line on Sundays in the early sixties due to work on the line into Wakefield Westgate.

I believe the Deltic headcode 1A22 is for the 11.00 King's Cross-Glasgow express service, with through coaches for Aberdeen.

micky, I think it had come from Liverpool via Manchester , that where most of the "pats" and "scots " came from..

The "The Royal Horse Guardsman" 46151 was heading home , to which ever shed it was , with a "scouse" train
