A question for Techy type people

Ay up!
I've just been given a HP Pailion G6 running Windows 7 Home Premium. Excellent machine and all that BUT the Touch Pad Zoom is driving me sane!
When I try to adjust the settings, the menu flashes up and is gone quicker than I can describe it! I know this is summat to do with a Pop-Up Blocker but can I hell as like find out how to turn it off and remove the annoying Zoom feature.
Can anyone help? Otherwise this thing may end up seriously damaged by a frustrated Tyke!

Ay up!
Thanks for that, Pinza. Now another problem has presented itself.
When I click on the Settings tab, the menu flashes on then off quicker than I can type it! This 'puter lives even more dangerously than Ginger!
I've gone through all the "security" settings to no avail.
If I had any hair, I'd be tearing it out!

Sounds to me as if the touch pad is dodgy...

Ay up!
The touch pad is fine. I just wish I could remember how I set up the blasted security on this thing! Grrrrrrr.......
Oh, dear how tiresome and similar words.
If this thing doesn't watch it, there will be a laptop shaped hole in the landscape hereabouts......

You could try starting it in Safe Mode like this
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/wind ... =windows-7 It doesn't sound like a security thing to me, more like virus or corrupted files. I just sorted out a mates desktop and it had 502 instances of Malware, several corrupted files, had never been defragmented and had never had any Windows updates done in the 7 years he had it.Oh, and it wouldn't boot to the Home screen, only to a plain blue screen

Ay up!
You read my mind, Pinza! That's just what I did and the mouse problem is now solved although how to get the menus to stay up is another problem for another day.
I hate computers.
And they know it!

Windows 7 does have its little issues - I updated both my computers this year after XP died. My drop-down menus also had a habit of disappearing quickly, but it's due to the way I moved across to the submenus. Any sloppy movement and they went. So I bought myself a pair of mouse mats and it's solved. Of course, if you are using the touch pad, that's no solution. Maybe there is something on the control panel under "Mice and other pointing devices".

If you are not happy with the touch pad the no fuss solution is to buy a decent mouse , plug it in and use that instead.

Ay up!
The touch pad took some getting used to but now I am acclimatized to them, no worries.
I think it's something to do with the Security Settings but it's now well and truly sorted. The new 'un is now a sadder and a wiser laptop and nearly faced The End. The Famous 4 Pound Hammer.
