Re: Mornington Crescent
I'd prefer to use a row of asterisks when reference to the unmentionable is required and so to get us away from *** territory I play Finsbury Park.

Re: Mornington Crescent
The earlier contentious but probably technically allowable move with an'unmentionable' flavour, is still causing my fiery temper to conflagrate, so, as a calming influence to help it burn itself out, I must go for Pudding Lane.

I fear that could be a monumental mistake on historical grounds...
Allow me to extinguish any flames of contention by using the Otter Firefighting Technique to take us to Canada Water.

Re: Mornington Crescent
I cannot but feel that there have now been two monumental mistakes but more on geographical or topographical than historical lines. We have, in pursuit of dousing a conflagration caused by mention of the unmentionable, completely destroyed all rules and left the designated system. I will endeavour not to fall into the ash pit of double entry tonight, for which I beg pardings and blame Fred Carnot and claim the umteenth amendment in volume 4, and also try to lead us back into the 'unmentionable' system at staniermore.

Re: Mornington Crescent
I wont be bulleid (intentional spelling)by off piste plays so sanity prevails on the Edgware Road
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
Re: Mornington Crescent
Mention of Bulleid (use of upper case intentional here) leads me to play somewhere south of the Thames. Bettancourt's "Divertissement du Sud" gives you London Bridge.
This is of course the London adaption and not the original version as developed for the Paris Metro. Not that veteran players would need this explanation.

Re: Mornington Crescent
this subject is getting a bit on the grisely[intentally spelt]side so how about KINGS CROSS
Re: Mornington Crescent
Ah, a classic piece of comfort play if I may say so. In that case I will essay a counter comfort play and give you Hammersmith (Hammersmith & City Line). Please note that on the section alongside the *** main line I will avert my gaze.

Ah, you want to be careful doing that Spamcan, you could miss a signal and find yourself heading off into a siding. Just to be controversial, I shall play the Stevie Wonder Triangulation and in trying to avoid a discrimination law suit, end up in - Covent Garden.
Re: Mornington Crescent
I have never been overly fond of Pollit's Positive Play as it can often be too reliant on subsequent moves by other players but what the heck? It is Christmas after all. So I give you St. John's Wood.
Re: Mornington Crescent
Did someone call a timeout or are you all cogitating your next move? As an awakener I will play Chalk Farm.

Re: Mornington Crescent
I will give you a strange one, newcomers may call it foul suspecting i have brought into play Robert Stephensons latterday Tyneside progression, but old hands will correct them Kenton.

Re: Mornington Crescent
If I may interject, there's not much water in Canada at the moment. It's all gone solid. So, in the subsection of the Otter Firefighting Technique dealing with frozen hoses (protect your nether parts, gents) I'll carry on to . . . Burnt Oak (it has an element of warmth about it).Autocar Publicity wrote:I fear that could be a monumental mistake on historical grounds...

Re: Mornington Crescent
Have been out of the play since before Crimble (with a dead router) so have suffered withdrawal symptoms. But all OK now so....
Burnt Oak eh? (I note that this station is in square A4 (hoorah) on my pocket Underground map!)
I think Hochkins Variation is playable so (with no LMS connections) let's move to...
